Hello! My name is Su Myat Kyaw Naing and I am a final year Bachelor of Commerce student majoring in Finance and Management.

This semester, I am doing 4 subjects, including Derivatives Securities Project Management, Chinese 7 and From Graffiti to Terrorism. The former two are commerce subjects and the latter are my breadth subjects. Here is what a day in my life at university looks like. As a commerce student, I only have 13 contact hours a week. Monday is the busiest day for me as I have three classes (2 lectures and 1 tutorial).

6:15 AM

My alarm goes off and I need to get up to make it to my 7AM barre class. I don’t normally wake up this early, but I have to be at university till late today. Therefore, I don’t have time to go for my normal 5pm workout class. I quickly get changed, grab an apple and try to leave the door by 6:40.

8:30 AM

My barre class lasts for an hour and I get home by 8:30. I start my class at 10 on Monday so I need to get ready for the day. I would take a shower and make myself some breakfast. I started drinking coffee when I move to Melbourne and have been addicted ever since. So, this is when I will make myself a cup of coffee along with my breakfast.

10 AM

I have my Derivatives Securities lecture at Old Arts. I live in an apartment in Carlton so I am very close to both Parkville campus and Melbourne CBD. I can leave my place at 9:45 and get to lecture around 10. I would wait for my friend to sit together for the lecture. It is a 2 hours long lecture, so I am glad to have a friend in the same class.

12 PM

We both have an hour break after the lecture, so we would always go for lunch to have some time to catch up. Egg Sake is my favourite restaurant in union house and I always get their signature chicken katsu curry with brown rice. I also have my Derivatives Securities tutorial at 1pm on the same day so I would head to The Spot after lunch, where the class is held.

2 PM

I finish my tutorial and have around 2 hours break until my Project Management lecture. I will go to a library to do some homework at this time. Giblin Eunson and Baillieu are two of the libraries that I usually go on campus. Today, I will be going to Baillieu because my next lecture is at MSD.

4 PM

I usually go to a café to get an iced matcha-latte for my afternoon caffeine dose before my lectures since it is a long day. My lecture starts at 4:15pm and this lecture is a small one, half the size of my morning lecture.

6:15 PM

I am in the committee for Unimelb Myanmar Student Association this year, so I would have to go to our weekly meeting at 6:30pm. I head to Trinity College for my meeting and we normally get things done in about an hour.

8 PM

I get back home and since it is a very long and tiring day, I would just make a quick noodle soup with whatever that is available in the fridge.

10 PM

After having dinner and spending some time on social media, it is time for bed.
